Hobby Racing

The last round of the 2011 edition of the Dunlop Romanian Superbike Championship (RoSBK) was programmed for 6^th-8^thof October, at the Serres Racing Circuit in northern Greece. The event was common with the last stage of the National Championship for Speed on Circuit (CNI-VC), organized by the Romanian Motorcycle Federation. The races were supposed to be very interesting, as in this stage should be decided both the second place for the RoSBK 600cc class and the champion for the CNI 1000cc class. Apart for the romanian pilots, at this stage participated some racers from Bulgaria and Turkey. Many of the romanian pilots were facing the racetrack for the first time.

The weather prediction was not very good for racing and the officials decided to organize an open race on Saturday afternoon, so those which were coming for the first time to a racetrack could have a taste of what racing means. I qualified for this race on the 10^th position on the starting grid, which is my best qualify ever. Unfortunately, my start was not so good and I lost a few positions before the first turn. So my race was mainly a recovery one, but because of this incident it was even more difficult for me to get back to my position. Another reason for my not so good race was that I was coming after a crash that I had at Pannoniaring during the warm-up session (this led to the new look of my bike), on stage #4 of the championship. I finished 18^th, my best lap beeing the last one (1:34.415), after I finally passed Cosmin Socol on the brakes after the straight (even though I was theoretically 5 seconds per lap faster than him, it was very difficult for me to pass and I stayed behind him for about half of the race).

Luckily the weather didn't listen to the forecast, so I was able to take part to a second race that weekend, the B class race. My starting position was 18^th. Although this time I had a much better start, in the first turn I was caught on the outside and I lost a few positions. During the race I was able to make some passes so I finished 16^th, just 0.2 seconds behind the 15^th, Cristina Udrescu. My best lap time was 1:33.019, as you can see in the results sheet (or here on the new MyLaps site). .

The team was the same (Dan Demetrescu, Adi Teodorescu, Dan Tudorache, Cristi Andrei), except for Ionut Pasere who attended only as a spectator.
